A couple of BIG days!

Here's what got done over the weekend: New openings were created between classrooms by the demo crew: Bret Glass, Rich Frankenheimer, Will Vanderveer, and John Carron. They stirred up a lot of dust and got a good workout in taking out those walls! They also got some help from some of the kids, who should NOT try this at home! The sandbox was enlarged and excavation continued, driven by Cary Hendricks and his 'back seat crew' (see the picture below!). Doesn't look like Cary? Well, Cary shares well with others, and Will got a turn behind the controls as well! Drew Crossman and crew tackled the taping, prepping, caulking and painting, even in the midst of demo activity. If you have ever seen a professional painter tackle a ceiling with a roller, you will have a new definition of 'aerobic workout'! Tons of folks came by to help, including (but not limited to) Sandra Vanderveer, Diana Pesenti, Micheal Maisonpierre, Hank, Fred Rubenfeld, Toria, Emily Wolfe, Melanye Levin, and many others! Tracy Tealander tackled the scourge of the garden, the Canadian Thistle in the front flower beds, John Carron stayed on top of the irrigation of the soccer field, and several people, including Dia Nicholson and Julia Hellerman kept the children busy during the creative chaos that reigned inside.....

And that was just Saturday!

On Sunday, the painting continued, with Mark Jonjak, Diane Micheal, Eva Maier, Karen Gatt, Krista Isenheart and others. Of course, Drew was at the helm once again, lending his invaluable expertise to the project. Those are going to be some fine looking walls! There was also a major moving effort, with Bruce Rosard, Peter Michael, Colin Isenheart, and Chris Hauck loading and unloading a LOT of heavy furniture. After 4 trips, we have nearly everything! One of our new Kindy moms, Karen Beeman, kept the wee ones busy in the morning, while the bigger kids entertained themselves with repeated trips down what they have dubbed "the never ending hallway....". In the afternoon, Lu Wright and Ursula Mains arrived to keep the kids out of trouble, and the kindy rooms began to take on a whole new look as the paint was rolled onto the walls. WOW!

Feeling leftout? Don't see yourself in the pictures below? Don't worry, there's still time to get in on the action!~ Stop by anytime (pretty much) to paint this week, or help us get started on some clean up. Or volunteer to help out next weekend (volunteering is patriotic you know) with fencing, framing, excavation, painting, cleaning, etc, etc. Let Julia or Sharon know if you will be there, and thanks- this school rocks!

What Progress looks like....

Haven't made it by the school lately? Wondering what's getting done? Here you go! Thanks to all of the people who have made it by to help Ms. Holley paint, help clean up, move desks, figure out paint colors, dig the sandbox, etc, etc, etc! Check out the second grade room taking shape- you can really see the future of our space here..... as for the heavy equipment... thank goodness for Cary Hendricks! It's almost magical the way our community seems to manifest what is needed- if you haven't had a chance to help yet, come on out and bring your magic with you!
